NABLEO Chairman: ‘We’re Concerned Trump’s DEI Mandate Could Impact Our Upcoming Conference, But We’ll Proceed’

Official Urges Police Agencies, Organizations and Officers Throughout the U.S. to Attend Organization’s Landmark “Rebuilding Equality in Law Enforcement” Event

The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, Inc., also known as NABLEO, will hold its 2025 Education and Training Conference, Board of Directors meetings, and Awards and Scholarship Ceremonies at the Harborside Hotel in Oxon Hills, MD. The event will run from September 24th through September 26th.

The three-day series of events, which is entitled “Rebuilding Equality in Law Enforcement”, is open to all sworn or civilian (active or retired) members of municipal, county, state, campus, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as the staff and leadership of the organizations that make up their community partnerships, students and faculty involved in criminal justice programs at the various colleges and universities, and members of NABLEO’s local chapter and conference host organization, the Coalition of Black Maryland State Troopers, which was denied permission to participate or attend.

Lieut. Wilson joins me to provide the very latest on this situation and details on the objectives of the upcoming conference. He previously served with the Rhode Island College, Providence, RI Campus Police Department as a patrol shift supervisor. With a professional career dating from 1971, his previous law enforcement experience has included service as a detective/patrolman with the Woodmere Village, Ohio Police Department, where he also served as its first African American Chief of Police from 1988 to mid-1990.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with an emphasis in Justice Studies from Rhode Island College in Providence, RI; a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX; has served an historic eight terms as national chairman of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, Inc, and is an original signatory delegate of the organization’s constitution.
