The Second Annual European Ethnic Cleansing Conference Looks to Trump for Inspiration

GPAHE: Last weekend’s second annual Remigration Summit in Porto, Portugal, brought together hundreds of far-right activists, white nationalist influencers, and political figures promoting “remigration.” Once relegated to extremist and neo-Nazi circles, remigration, which advocates for the forced removal of non-white immigrants, is now being openly championed by far-right movements across Europe and the United States. Trump is credited for taking it mainstream. Speakers including former Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino celebrated Trump’s mass deportation agenda as evidence that their vision can be implemented.

A WIRED investigation of the event highlighted the growing collaboration between American and European extremists, with Bovino receiving a hero’s welcome and encouraging attendees to learn from the Trump administration’s deportation efforts. The article cited GPAHE’s research on the expansion of transnational extremist networks, including the Active Club movement.

“With the Trump administration’s support, American and European extremists believe that the time is right for international institutional collaboration to put this ethnic cleansing plan into action,” Wendy Via, co-founder of GPAHE told WIRED. “And having Gregory Bovino, whose agents killed two American citizens, speak at the Remigration Summit demonstrates European extremists are looking to the United States as proof that remigration, no matter how violent, is possible.”
