Nihilistic Violence: Understanding Online Networks Obsessed with Harm

GPAHE: We provide an in-depth analysis of how “nihilistic violence” is shaping a transnational ecosystem of online networks organized around extreme harm and exploitation. The analysis examines cases tied to groups like 764, No Lives Matter, and the Maniac Murder Cult, showing how networks built around child exploitation, self-harm, and mass-casualty attacks operate across mainstream platforms and fringe forums, transforming brutality into status and belonging. Framed as “nihilistic violence,” these spaces recycle neo-Nazi symbolism, blur into accelerationist subcultures, and increasingly translate online spectacle into real-world harm, raising urgent questions about how governments name, understand, and respond to this threat.
