State Attorneys General Suing Trump Admin Over SNAP Cuts

C-SPAN:
California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D), Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield (D), Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell (D), and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) held a virtual press conference to announce a new lawsuit against the Trump administration for cutting SNAP funding for immigrants and asylum seekers who have obtained legal status. The attorneys argued that new USDA guidance under the Trump administration, stating that immigrants, refugees, and other lawfully present groups are not eligible for SNAP benefits, is “unlawful.” They emphasized the lawsuit’s goal, saying, “We want to make sure immigrants who are eligible for SNAP benefits are receiving those benefits.”
