POLITICO: ‘EMBARASSMENT TO OUR PARTY’: Peter Giunta, who previously served as the president and national committeeman for the New York State Young Republicans Club, stepped down Tuesday.

The former leader made his resignation known in a letter, which was reviewed by Playbook. His departure comes as the group still hasn’t paid off a more-than-$14,000 bill for a swanky Christmas party two years ago, according to a person who works for the venue — and the club hasn’t filed at least three state-required financial disclosure forms.

The troubles began with a holiday party Giunta and his club threw in December 2023 at the National Women’s Republican Club.

“He paid a deposit, and we never got the rest of the money, and we didn’t go after him because it’s a shame that he’s a Republican and he doesn’t pay,” said a member of the National Women’s Republican Club who was involved in the matter and was granted anonymity because she fears retribution from fellow Republicans. “He’s acting like a goddamn Democrat, takes everybody’s money and spends it, but doesn’t pay his bills.”
