Secretary Duffy News Conference on English Language Proficiency Enforcement for Commercial Drivers
C-SPAN: Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced enhanced enforcement of federal English language proficiency rules for commercial vehicle drivers. He explained that Washington, California, and New Mexico would have federal funding withheld unless these states started complying with the department’s language rules, which went into effect in late June. “This is about keeping people safe on the road,” said Duffy. He was joined by Jesse Elison, chief counsel for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in the department.
