Speaker Johnson Optimistic About Budget Bill Passage, Defends Air Strikes on Iran
C-SPAN: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and other House GOP leaders were joined by four constituents to talk about the importance of passing the Republicans’ tax and spending legislation, dubbed the “big, beautiful bill.” Speaker Johnson said he expected the Senate to pass the legislation, already approved by House lawmakers, within days, and said House members should keep their “schedules flexible” so the House could then move to a final vote on any changes before sending the legislation to President Trump for his signature. Speaker Johnson also talked about the U.S. air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, saying President Trump had accomplished what many of his predecessors had failed to do, and brushed off concerns about the president moving forward with the attack without congressional approval.
