Senate Democrats Speak to Reporters After Vote on Kash Patel Is Delayed for a Week

C-SPAN: Ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) was joined by other committee Democrats to express opposition to the nomination of Kash Patel to lead the FBI. The members expressed concern over Patel’s unwillingness to answer questions during his confirmation hearing. Other areas of concern were his involvement in creating music sung by those convicted in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and political views outlined in a book published by Patel. Sen. Dick Durbin (IL) said he believed the Trump administration was trying to “rewrite history” about January 6. Their remarks to reporters came moments after Democratic members decided to delay the vote on Patel’s nomination for one week, a request allowed per rules of the committee.
