U.S. Attorney General Nominee Pam Bondi Testifies at Confirmation Hearing

This report was broadcast on January 15.

C-SPAN: Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R, 2011-19) testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee during a confirmation hearing for her to serve as U.S. attorney general in the Trump administration. “My overriding objective will be to return the Department of Justice to its core mission of keeping Americans safe and vigorously prosecuting criminals — and that includes getting back to basics,” said Pam Bondi. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle questioned the nominee on how she would run the Department of Justice, with Democrats voicing concerns about her ability to be independent of President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans voicing concerns about weaponization of the Justice Department. A variety of topics were discussed, including reducing recidivism, restoring integrity in the Justice Department, consumer safety, and the TikTok app.
