As Gretchen Whitmer Promotes Book, Prisoner Fights for Her Life at Controversial Michigan Prison

Saving Krystal Clark
An Open Letter to Warden Howard and Assistant Warden Horton
From The G-Man has published numerous commentaries and reports on the conditions, policies and practices that are allegedly having an adverse effect on the health and safety of Krystal Clark and others at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility (WHV). The special investigative series was launched in 2021 with the assistance of Prison Radio.
During the nearly three-year period, From The G-Man contacted the office of Governor Whitmer and submitted several of the aforementioned reports. There has been no response from Whitmer or her spokesperson. In 2023, Prison Radio told From The G-Man that State Representatives Amos O’Neal, who represents the 94th House District, and Jimmie Wilson,Jr., serving the 32nd House District, would be visiting the facility. From The G-Man spoke with both offices, and they confirmed the officials would visit the prison. However, they could not confirm the date of the visitation.
On October 16 of 2023, a source at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility told From The G-Man that the elected officials never visited the prison. Krystal Clark confirmed this during an August 2024 phone conversation with From The G-Man, and arrangements are being made to have her son appear on The G-Man Interviews to provide details on how prison officials and doctors are allegedly targeting his mother for speaking out and repeatedly violating her civil rights.
Activist Paula Kensu recently submitted the following letter to WHV Warden Jeremy Howard and Assistant Warden Horton via email. Kensu has played a key role in the ongoing effort to make the public aware of Clark’s plight and deteriorating health.

Warden Howard/Assistant Warden Horton:
Can you please tell me why Krystal Clark was not returned to her regular cell in Harrison A and instead placed in Filmore B after her retaliatory transfer for nine days into a single cell with feces, vomit and urine on the floor and walls and no shower for the first four days? As you are aware, Filmore B is the filthiest unit in the prison and where the mold is the worse. It’s where the drinking fountains were shut down for mold problems, yesterday, and residents were told to drink out of their sinks. The water comes from the same source, so if one is not safe neither is the other. Officers refuse to drink that water.
Krystal is a unit rep in Harrison and per the policy, she should have been returned to her unit after coming back from that solo cell/punishment that you locked her up for nine days in. She didn’t have a major ticket nor was she voted out. If she did or was, please provide proof. Otherwise, return her to her cell. Please make sure you don’t shack her up with a druggie either, as you know she doesn’t use drugs or want to be around them.
I’m continuing to document all of the retaliation from the staff, including medical officers (Ellison and DON Jones, as well as K. Carter and PA Reed. Although they may not be copied here, please put them on notice. You will all be listed in a civil rights lawsuit as complicit in denying care and cruel and degrading conditions and treatment. She has not caused any problems. She has only requested medical care to treat her symptoms from mold allergies and asked for her shampoo, soap, wheelchair and antibiotics. Instead she has been met with the worst retaliation I’ve ever seen.
I’ll remind you what happened to the officers, staff and warden who were charged in Jon Lancaster’s death. Let’s not let history repeat itself. Krystal has kept so many informed of the daily torture that if half of what we have on you came out in court, you’d find yourself behind bars. Don’t think it can’t happen to you.
We are watching and documenting everything you do to her and you are NOT immune from prosecution.
