Lawmakers and Others Hold Press Conference on 3-Year Anniversary of January 6 Attack

C-SPAN: “Tomorrow is going to be a solemn day,” said former U.S. Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell during the start of his remarks at a news conference outside of the U.S. Capitol marking the three-year anniversary of the January 6 attack on the Capitol. He said it was his duty on that day “to defend the Capitol,” and he criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) for ordering the blurring out of the faces of rioters in the videos of the January 6th attack to protect them from prosecution by the Justice Department. Others delivering remarks were representatives from the Not Above the Law Coalition (NALC), including Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Del. Eleanor Norton Holmes (D-DC), and Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD).
