Velvis Ramasmarmy: Here’s a Major Foreign Policy Question for You

By Gary Glennell Toms
Hey! Velvis! Before I start, I guess I should explain the origin of the name Velvis Ramasmarmy. I dubbed you “Velvis” because your appearance is a strong indication of what would have happened if Elvis Presley married and impregnated an Indian woman. Dude! A pompadour? Really? Oh! Don’t get me started on that forehead! Pilots could land a 747 on that bad boy and still have runway left.
The last part of your name, smarmy, means “revealing or marked by a smug, ingratiating, or false earnestness.” Based on your comments during and after the August 23 debate in Wisconsin, I would say that is a fitting description.
Now you, your campaign manager, staff and supporters may be wondering why I’m calling you out. The reason is twofold. First of all, you need to be held accountable for proclaiming prominent and respected members of the Black community, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and author Ibram X. Kendi, are representatives of the “modern day KKK.” Given the sickening and unfathomable atrocities the KKK committed against Black men, women and children since it was founded, such as burning people alive, castrations and lynchings, you should have known better. More importantly, the President of the United States is someone who is expected to make every effort to not only display true leadership, but unite people in this country and those abroad. Clearly, you are not ready to accept that responsibility.
Additionally, every time you open your mouth and let Mr. Stupid or Mr. Insensitive out, you prove to many politically savvy voters, especially those who expect you to talk about real issues and not engage in ego-stoking or name-calling, that you are too green, too ignorant, too self-absorbed, and too busy kissing Tang Man’s ass to present any viable solutions to the problems plaguing this nation. I have to be brutally honest, though. If you kissed my ass that much, you would have to put on some Chap Stick. Nobody kisses my ass with chapped lips!
Contrary to what you might think, the race for president is not a popularity contest. Quite frankly, I think many voters realize that and will see you for who you really are as the debates continue: just another millionaire whose sole purpose is self-promotion, building your brand, and possibly becoming the next Rush Limbaugh or FOX News reincarnation of Sucker Carlson. Yes, I meant to say Sucker. I suspect he would not have liked the other name I considered.
You know what, Velvis? Nikki Haley was absolutely right when she said you lack the foreign policy experience necessary to be president. In fact, I believe I can prove it. You may be good at snappy comebacks and flashing that megawatt smile whenever you land a punch on the chin of fellow candidates, but those things will not help you if confronted with an international crisis involving an ally of the United States. That said, I’m sure the examples below will hit a nerve, Velvis, and I invite your campaign advisors and manager to watch as well. They might learn something. However, since you are the one who allegedly wants to be Commander-in-Chief, I want you to answer this crucial question without their input. In other words, man up! If attendees and television viewers are fortunate, the question will also be posed by one of the moderators at the next debate.
If elected President of the United States in 2024, would you hold the prime minister of India and the government accountable for its failure to effectively address this issue?
Oh! If you and your team ask yourselves…..”Why isn’t he posing the same question to Haley?,” I would respond by saying you are leading her in the polls and women are not the ones raping and killing in India. The former U.N. ambassador will have her turn, at some point, but you deal with it for now. For the record, it would be in your best interest to answer the question. I suspect millions of female voters in this country, from both political parties, would like to know how you would handle this increasingly dangerous and dire foreign policy issue.
