On August 18 of this year, the Atlanta Black Star published a report about Maryland police officer Michael Brown, who is a member of the Prince George’s County Police Department. According to the article, “In October 2020, Officer Brown was on duty with fellow officer Cpl. Darryl Wormuth. Together, they tracked down an armed 17-year-old suspect named Kayvon Hines. After successfully restraining him, Wormuth struck the teen in the throat. Officer Brown reported Wormuth for a use-of-force violation against the suspect, who turned out to be misidentified. Officer Brown also blew the whistle on racist text messages and widespread abuse in the department, and he feels his life is in danger.”

Here to discuss the situation is Dr. Matthew Fogg, a retired Chief Deputy U.S. marshal who served the agency for 32 years. He has received awards from the director of the U.S. Marshals and other federal organizations for outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty.
