The New York Yankees: Death of a Dynasty
Oh, man!! I’m a volcano, and I’m about to blow!! Hold on to something, folks!!
They fired hitting coaches and still can’t compete in the AL East. They fired pitching coaches and still can’t compete in the AL East. They fired “conditioning coaches” and still can’t compete in the AL East. They fired all of these people and still got the same damn result? You know what that means, right? Maybe they were never the problem! Do you hear that grinding sound? That’s the Grim Reaper sharpening his trusty ax! Aaron Boone’s term as Yankees manager ends after this season, if not sooner. Mark my words! Later, dude! Don’t let the doorknob hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!!
The fact that players are clowning around and “kee-keeying” in the damn dugout on local and national TV, as the team slowly falls out of wild card contention, is a major reason why I no longer watch games. It also speaks volumes about their relationship with Boone. He can’t be happy about the joking and laughing during this crucial stretch, but they clearly don’t give two shakes of a rat’s ass! As far as I’m concerned, their laughing is a blatant middle finger to Yankee fans in and outside of the country. We’re angered and deeply distressed by this season (and previous ones) to the point where many of us have physical reactions, which is not good. I speak from experience. Yet, these assclowns show no sense of urgency or consideration for upset fans who may be watching them joke it up in the duggie like nothing is wrong. I’m sick of it!! I’m sick of our milquetoast manager, and I’m sick of this team. “Big George” must be rolling over in his grave.
The New York Yankees were once “The Beast of the AL East.” Now, they’re nothing more than a bunch of overpaid p*ssies in pinstripes who can’t wait until the games are over so they can jump on PlayStation. By the way, playing MLB The Show is the only way any of them will ever play in a World Series! Yeah, I said it!! I said it!!
Finally, Yankee fans have to be held accountable for this bulls**t, too! Why? They’re enablers! They continue to buy Yankees merch, Apple TV, Prime and Yes subscriptions and tickets. Imagine, just for a second, if they stopped in protest of the ownership moves and team’s performance. The organization would lose millions in revenue, and every business in America will always be concerned about pleasing shareholders and its ability to generate revenue and ratings. Fans must realize they have as much power (and maybe even more) as the Yankees front office. Without their hard-earned money, the Yankee brand and organization crumble. Once fans start expressing their anger and frustration from an economic standpoint, watch how fast ownership will change its position and pay more attention to the suggestions of its fan base. Sometimes, force is necessary! Race relations in this country changed in the 1960s because Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. forced change, and economic boycotts played a key role. Yankee fans have power, and they should never forget that!
