Eric Adams: Civil Servants Are Being Forced Into Poverty By His Policies

G-Man,
I read the commentary your news site published about Mayor Eric Adams and his ego. Ouch! You make a good point. Male ego and word choices are burying the Mayor, and he must consider alliances with our leadership.
But more than his words, I feel let down by his policies regarding housing and the assault on the middle class, who find themselves with nowhere to live and are either forced to spend beyond their means to live in one of the many monstrosities growing out of the ground, as if by magic, or leave New York City.
Civil servants are no longer the middle class. They are being forced into poverty in a City that needs them but doesn’t care about them.
Mayor Adams appears to have escalated the building frenzy, and these greedy so-called developers are doing anything but developing. He has even given them contracts to tear down public houses in what is now wealthy white areas, and build upscale condo-like facilities with promises that the former tenants can occupy a portion of it. This is the beginning of the end of the only affordable housing left in the city.
The builders, greedy vampires that they are, have even bought up all of the gas stations in this area except for one station, which has now raised its prices, most days, to almost 50 cents per gallon above the lowest-priced stations in Brooklyn.
I am so disappointed. I never expected this.
Thanks for your reporting. Much appreciated.
