BJHI to Host High School Student Art Contest for Jewish Heritage Month

The following statement was submitted by the Brooklyn Jewish Historical Initiative (BJHI).

Brooklyn students grades 9-12 can draw, paint, take photographs, make sculptures, prints or mixed media pieces that depict a Jewish life in Brooklyn. These pieces can be portraits or portray Jewish people engaging in an activity, from a holiday celebration to being at a synagogue, from cooking to playing sports, from talking to dancing to singing and so much more.

We are keeping this theme very general so that your students can be as creative as possible. Winners will receive prizes.

Completed projects should be photographed (up to 3 photographs per piece) and uploaded to brooklynjewish.org/student-art-contest. Students will need to fill out the online form with their name, school, grade, teacher and contact information when submitting their application. The last date to submit artwork is May 31, 2023.
