House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries Holds News Conference on GOP Transgender Bill and Debt Ceiling

C-SPAN: Jeffries (D-NY) held a news conference following approval of a GOP-led bill banning transgender student athletes from competing in girls’ sports. The bill passed along party lines 219-213. The minority leader condemned the bill, arguing the GOP is trying to bully children. He also repeated his party’s stance on raising the nation’s debt ceiling, saying Democrats are united behind a so-called clean debt bill. Mr. Jeffries responded to a CNN story about whether he defended controversial comments by his uncle, Black studies professor Leonard Jeffries.
