Defense Secretary Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair General Milley News Conference

C-SPAN: Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley stressed the United States‘ continued commitment to the defense of Ukraine as the one-year mark of the Russian invasion approaches. Both leaders held a joint news conference after meeting with the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Brussels, Belgium. The group is an alliance of more than 50 countries supporting Ukraine with security aid and weapons to fight Russia. During the news conference, Gen. Milley also confirmed the first missile missed the aerial object over Lake Huron and landed in the lake’s waters. He stressed prior to the missile strikes every safety measure was taken to protect the public including clearing air and maritime spaces.
