Black and Jewish Solidarity from the Civil Rights Era Until Now

This panel event organized by the Black Law Students Association and Jewish Law Students Association explored the history of the African American and Jewish alliance in the United States, with an emphasis on the civil rights era, and the current state of the alliance. The panelists were Dr. André Churchwell, Vanderbilt’s Vice-Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; Aron Karabel, a lawyer with Waller here in Nashville who serves on the ADL’s National Civil Rights Committee; and Rabbi Saul J. Berman, a faculty member at Yeshiva University and Columbia Law School with a long history of civil rights activism, including in Selma where he was arrested twice helping register voters in the week before the march.
