Hearing on the FDA and Food Safety

C-SPAN: A Senate Appropriations subcommittee looked at the FDA’s food safety policy after concerns were published in a recent POLITICO investigative report that found the agency repeatedly had not taken timely action on safety and health issues with food. FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf and others testified on current FDA challenges, ways that they are implementing change and prioritizing a quick response to foodborne outbreaks. Other topics included the baby formula supply shortage, genetically modified foods and using artificial intelligence technology to regulate imports.
