Speaker Pelosi and Democratic Women on House Abortion Legislation

C-SPAN: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and fellow House Democrats Judy Chu (CA), Lizzie Fletcher (TX), & Marilyn Strickland (WA) held a news conference on the Women’s Health Protection Act and the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act outside the Capitol. The former bill aims to codify the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade into law & the latter attempts to protect the right to travel to other states for abortion services. Both bills were scheduled for votes later in the day. Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court on June 24, 2022.
