A Free Screening of ‘TARGET: St. Louis Vol. 1’

ImageNation/Sol Cinema: On June 14 at 7:30 p.m., you are invited to take part in a free screening at your neighborhood park! NYC Parks will be the host of the special screening of TARGET: St. Louis Vol. 1. The film will be introduced by director/writer Damien D. Smith.

The presentation will take place at St. Nicholas Park, on the James Baldwin Lawn, at St. Nicholas Avenue and 135th Street.

Winner of best documentary film at the Urban World Film Festival, TARGET: St. Louis Vol. 1 tells the story of how the United States military conducted secret chemical testing on African American citizens of St. Louis’s Northside long before the scandal of lead poisoning in Flint, Michigan.

The story is told through the eyes of the survivors who bravely share their experiences of being unwitting test subjects. The film examines how these disturbing Cold War experiments occurred and the actions of the US military that extended beyond the guarantees of public safety promised to U.S. citizens by the Constitution.
