NYPD’s Lieutenants Benevolent Association & Detectives’ Endowment Association Endorse Denny Salas

Louis Turco, President of NYPD-LBA
The Lieutenants Benevolent Association of the New York City Police Department, with more than 5,200 active and retired lieutenants, has endorsed Denny Salas for election as the New York State Assembly Member of the 65th Assembly District.
“Denny and his family overcame numerous adversities, and through determination, a focus on the importance of a solid education, and a solid work ethic achieved stability in their adoptive country and strived to achieve the American dream,” said Louis Turco, President of NYPD-LBA. “Denny’s stance on addressing real public safety and education issues are just some of the reasons the LBA is endorsing him to be the next Assembly member representing the 65th New York State Assembly District.”
“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the Lieutenants Benevolent Association of the New York City Police Department,” stated Salas. “Our campaign has knocked on thousands of doors across Assembly District 65, and the overwhelming response is that our neighbors – especially seniors – are feeling unsafe.”
Salas has stated that he is running to reform “Bail Reform,” implement a statewide mandate for the AAPI, Black, Latino, Jewish, & LGBTQ communities, which would call for a hate crimes task force in every police department in New York State, and to encourage tougher penalties for those arrested with illegal guns.
“We have to listen to what our community is asking for, and they want their New York City back to where it was, and that means having a safe, prosperous home,” Salas said.

Paul DiGiacomo, President of NYPD-DEA
Additionally, the Detectives’ Benevolent Association, Inc. – the labor union of 18,000 active and retired NYPD Detectives – recently endorsed Salas. “We trust Denny will fight for the needs and concerns of New York City’s blue-collar laborers, especially those who proudly wear the shields of the NYPD,” stated Paul DiGiacomo, President of NYPD-DEA. “We look forward to working closely and productively with him on any and all issues that affect law enforcement.”
Salas noted that his support of law enforcement is personal. “My father-in-law has worn the badge for over 30 years. As Democrats, we need to ensure our law enforcement officials are supported so they can keep our communities safe and make it back home to their families when their shifts end,” the candidate said. “Doing both requires true partnership, trust, and supporting one another to bring New York City back from the brink of attacks against innocent seniors and residents. Having the support of the NYPD-DEA means a lot, and I will be a reliable partner in Albany!”
The Democratic primary election is June 28.
