Professor John Mearsheimer: Why is Ukraine the West’s Fault?
UnCommon Core: The Causes and Consequences of the Ukraine Crisis
The University of Chicago: John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago, assesses the causes of the present Ukraine crisis, the best way to end it, and its consequences for all of the main actors.
A key assumption is that in order to come up with the optimum plan for ending the crisis, it is essential to know what caused the crisis. Regarding the all-important question of causes, the key issue is whether Russia or the West bears primary responsibility.
The presentation was given on September 25, 2015.
Note: In publishing this video, From The G-Man is not implying that President Vladimir Putin was justified in his decision to attack Ukraine. The killing of innocent men, women and children can never be justified. However, when this independent news and information platform was launched back in 2009, its mission was to present factual information and as many points of view as possible so that viewers could draw their own conclusions and/or make informed decisions on any given issue. From The G-Man maintains that position.
