Born in London of Ukrainian refugee parents, Askold Krushelnycky was brought up and educated in the United Kingdom. He is a British and American citizen.

He holds a BSc in Chemistry but has worked for most of his professional life in British journalism, mostly as a staff foreign correspondent for The Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday, and The European. He has frequently contributed to American publications as well.

He was assistant foreign editor at the UK Sunday Times and was editor-in-chief of the Kyiv Post. Mr. Krushelnycky has been based in Moscow (covering the former Soviet Union), Kyiv, Prague and New Delhi (covering India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan).

Krushelnycky reported from the front lines near Mariupol in 2019.

He has reported extensively from the conflict zones of Afghanistan and the Balkans, and has been visiting the frontlines to report on the war between Ukraine and Russia, which erupted in 2014 when Moscow invaded and annexed Crimea.

He authored a book about Ukraine called “An Orange Revolution” and ran his own business intelligence company focusing on Central and Eastern Europe.
