Former NSM Leader Jeff Schoep Speaks at Major Law Enforcement Forum

By Gary Glennell Toms

In November, Jeff Schoep, former president of the National Socialist Movement (NSM), attended the 6th Annual TLO Conference in Riverside, California. The event was sponsored by the Joint Regional Intelligence Center & Sheriffs Department.

Schoep, one of the keynote speakers, addressed hundreds during his presentation, including various law enforcement agencies. “I was asked to speak about radicalization, extremism, and the paradigm shift to change,” said the former NSM leader. “Law enforcement agencies are doing their best to understand how a humanistic approach can be utilized to mitigate effective change. It was an honor to offer some insights and assist our nation in understanding how the radicalization and deradicalization process works.”

Schoep also noted that being able to share his perspectives, and those of fellow speaker Jesse Morton, a former Al-Qaeda propagandist and CIA asset, was crucially important because of the roles they played within their organizations. “We speak from personal experience, which places us in a position to help others change or avoid becoming radicalized. In these polarizing times, we must do everything possible to combat negative energy, people and thinking,” Schoep stated. “I’m truly thankful to be able to offer support to those efforts and have massive respect for the men and women who serve in law enforcement. It’s a thankless and dangerous job, and the public often forgets or doesn’t hear about all the good things police do because of negative media coverage. However, the reforms and efforts to make law enforcement better should also be acknowledged.”
