General McKenzie Apologizes for Civilian Casualties in August 29 Air Strike Targeting ISIS-K

C-SPAN: CENTCOM Commander General Kenneth McKenzie apologizes for the civilian casualties in an August 29 air strike in Kabul targeting what where at the time believed to be ISIS-K fighters feared heading to the airport where the evacuation effort was underway. Ten civilians died in the strike, including 7 children. “I offer my profound condolences to the family and friends of those who were killed. This strike was taken in the earnest belief that it would prevent an imminent threat to our forces and the evacuees at the airport. But It was a mistake. And I offer my sincere apology,” General McKenzie says.
