Greta Thunberg Testifies Before House Oversight Committee
C-SPAN: Climate activist Greta Thunberg testified before a House Oversight subcommittee to discuss the impact of the fossil fuel industry on the environment. Ms. Thunberg urged lawmakers to put an end to fossil fuel subsidies and called for a rapid transition to sustainable energy sources. Conversely, an official from the American Petroleum Institute testified on the economic benefits of the oil and gas industry. Other witnesses included tribal rights attorney Tara Houska, several climate policy experts and Ohio resident Jill Antares Hunkler, who gave a first-hand account on the environmental impacts of fracking in her state. The hearing was held on Earth Day 2021.
