The following statement was submitted by Steven Jonas, MD, MPH, MS, FNYAS. Dr. Jonas is Professor Emeritus, Stony Brook Medicine, at the Department of Preventive Medicine and the Program in Public Health at the Renaissance School of Med. at Stony Brook University. He also serves as a contributing writer for From The G-Man.

“I do not agree with mandatory vaccination, for anyone, and it’s not because of the deplorable history of deficient medical care and horrors like the ‘Tuskegee’ experiment. I don’t think that anyone should be subject involuntarily to any medical procedure and most especially one like this, where the long-term a) effectiveness and b) risks of this vaccine are completely unknown. Further, I think that a mandatory program would likely lead to more people resisting vaccination than might with a voluntary program.”
