The Use of Excessive and Deadly Force: A Question Donald J. Trump Still Hasn’t Answered

Back in May of this year, From The G-Man posed a question to Donald J. Trump that has gone unanswered. In the wake of the grand jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case, the death of George Floyd, and ongoing police killings of unarmed Black people, From The G-Man is going to repeat the question in the hope that the Tweeter-in-Chief or a White House spokesperson will finally respond.

Setting the stage

In 2017, Trump visited Long Island, New York, and addressed members of law enforcement. During his speech, he told police officers the following regarding the handling of alleged perpetrators once taken into custody: “Please don’t be too nice!” His comments were met with laughter and applause, but police officials from across the country publicly criticized Trump’s comment. When reporters questioned then-White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders about the comment, she said she believed Trump “was making a joke.” Again, police officials from all over the country didn’t think it was funny.

Mr. Trump, once again, in the cases of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Jacob Blake, Trayford Pellerin, and David McAtee ..…was that rough enough for you?
