A photo of Alex Pretti is displayed at a makeshift memorial in his honor in the area where he was shot dead by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 26, 2026. On January 24, federal agents shot and killed Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, while scuffling with him on an icy roadway in Minneapolis, less than three weeks after an immigration officer fired on Renee Good, also 37, killing her in her car. The fatal shootings has reignited accusations that federal agents enforcing US President Donald Trump's militarized immigration crackdown are inexperienced, under-trained and operating outside law enforcement norms. ProPublica via HuffPost: The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti have been identified in government records.
