Far From A Lone Wolf

Most Americans were rightly horrified by the atrocious massacre in Buffalo, NY where a white supremacist killed 10 innocent souls, all of whom were Black. Despite the fact that the killer’s own rantings repeated familiar talking points of ‘replacement theory’ and other popular verbiage found not only amongst hate groups, but within the mainstream of the GOP, there was an instant knee-jerk reaction for some to paint him as a lone wolf. The harsh reality is that not only is he emblematic of a larger dangerous international racist movement, but also the direct result of people with similar beliefs obtaining positions of power. For the Black community and other communities of color, the trepidation is twofold: fear of individual acts of violence, as well as fear of the coordinated efforts to legally attack and harm them.
