Unemployment Rate for Black Men Increases in April Jobs Report

The following information was submitted by the Republican National Committee.

The unemployment rate for Black men increased to 6.1% in the April jobs report.

There are still 1.1 million Americans who lost their job during the pandemic and have yet to get it back.

There are 11.5 million job openings that businesses are struggling to fill– a record high – even though there are 5.9 million unemployed Americans trying to find a job.

1.7 million workers were unable to work in April because their employer was closed or had lost business because of the pandemic.

The April BlackTrack Report from HIT Strategies showed inflation and jobs as major issues with Black voters.

The number of voters who reported that “inflation or cost of living” should be one of President Biden’s top 3 priorities increased once again from 37% to 43% last month, a 15-point increase since January.

47% of small business owners say there are job openings they cannot fill – more than double the 48-year historical average.
