According to a January 31 report by Daytona Beach news station WNDB, Police Chief Jakari Young confirmed that a series of bomb threats against historically black colleges and universities, also known as HBCUs, were connected to a neo-Nazi group that has operated in the U.S. for several decades. The group was later identified as the National Socialist Movement or NSM.
The report noted that the Bethune-Cookman University campus was briefly on lockdown before being reopened. Southern University and A&M, Howard University, Albany State University, Bowie State University and Delaware State University also received bomb threats.
On the same day, FOX35 Orlando reported that University of Central Florida student David Newstat was allegedly punched and spat on after a confrontation with neo-Nazis.
Today, From The G-Man received an email from someone who claimed they were so concerned and disturbed by the events of January 31, that they took action in hopes of making a difference and preventing hate groups like the NSM from attracting national media coverage.
“I submit the following screenshots to give people in America an idea of how much the NSM, Patriot Front and other white nationalist/supremacist groups crave media attention. They were taken from the NSM’s Telegram channel,” the source alleges.
Additionally, the source claimed they were affiliated with the white nationalist movement, but they’re now part of growing community of anti-hate crusaders known as “formers.” They also claimed that the only reason they decided to take a look at the channel was to see if members viewed the Orlando rally as “successful.” “It really sickened me to see these images, to know that the attack on the UCF student was live-streamed on the NSM channel, and how proud they were for what they’d done,” said the source. “The more I distance myself from these groups, the more I realize how much I compartmentalized, literally, and lived my life with blinders on. It really saddens and sickens me.”
A National Socialist Movement member rejoices over FOX35 news coverage.
NSM members labeled their actions and January 31 rally a “success.”
A member claimed to have received “a very interesting email” from CNN.
One of the members responds to the CNN claim.
The Associated Press report was shared with NSM members throughout the country.
