This scene is from the legendary FOX series “Married with Children,” which starred Ed O’Neill, Katey Sagal, David Garrison, Amanda Bearse, Christina Applegate, David Faustino and Ted McGinley. It starts out simply enough, but then it takes two extremely strange and somewhat scary turns.
The first occurs when “Al and Peg Bundy,” played by Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal, are seated on the couch and the doorbell rings. If you look to the lower-left of the scene, a dark mass suddenly appears as the two actors look toward the door. The second and more dramatic incident occurs when Peg is talking to the character that’s introduced as a new neighbor. As Peg delivers the line “People tell me everything,” the head of “a woman” with what appears to be purple-colored skin appears behind the character and then disappears. I’ve studied the scene more than 30 times, and I don’t see how it was possible for the woman to enter the frame without the audience and film crew reacting to the screw up or the director angrily yelling “Cut!!” Her presence would’ve ruined the shot!
Again, I’ve looked at this over and over and over. I’ve also shared the video with others, and they have no explanation for the incredibly eerie event. The only logical explanation I can come up with is….no one on the set or in the audience saw “the woman” while the scene was being filmed. Moreover, if you carefully study the opening of the scene, the space between the dresser and the staircase is extremely small, which is where the figure appears. In fact, it’s too small for anyone to just pop in and out of in an instant!
