
For the first time, audiences can watch a live broadcast of the Met’s Opening Night production of Terence Blanchard’s “Fire Shut Up in My Bones” from Marcus Garvey Park’s Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Harlem, in partnership with New York City Parks and SummerStage and supported by the Ford Foundation, free of charge.
Baritone Will Liverman stars in Grammy Award–winning jazz musician and composer Terence Blanchard’s adaptation of Charles M. Blow’s moving memoir. The opera tells a poignant and profound story about a young man’s journey to overcome a life of trauma and hardship.
James Robinson and Camille A. Brown are the co-directors.
Please note, to enter the amphitheater, attendees will be required to show either proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 PCR test administered within 72 hours prior to entry, as well as government-issued photo ID.
The open-air amphitheater opens to the public September 27 at 4:30 p.m., and seats will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, with no tickets required. The pre-show broadcast commences at 6 p.m., and the opera will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Unvaccinated children under the age of 12 may accompany their parent or guardian who provides proof of full vaccination or negative Covid-19 test. Masks are required upon entry and strongly encouraged for all guests for the duration of the performance.
